Danfoss announced the release of our new AME 110NL(X) modulating actuators for AB-QM 4.0 pressure independent balancing control valves. The new actuators are significantly upgraded and designed to enhance the performance and efficiency of hydronic HVAC systems. These advanced actuators replace the existing AME 110NL(X) and AME 120NL models, bringing a host of new features and improvements tailored to meet the evolving needs in the market.
The AME 110NL(X) modulating actuators are engineered to deliver high-precision control for AB-QM 4.0 Pressure Independent balancing Control Valves (PICV) in DN 15-32 range. One of the standout enhancements is the built-in digital step motor. It has a 15x higher resolution of 4,000 positions over the full valve stroke compared to its predecessor which has a resolution of 256 steps. This ensures unparalleled accuracy and control in HVAC applications.
Technically, the new actuators boost several notable improvements. The IP rating has been upgraded from IP42 to IP54, providing better water resistance and enabling installation in any direction. The actuators also support both 24V AC and DC power supplies, with automatic detection of the power type. The speed is now selectable at 3 or 12 sec./mm. Additionally, the actuators feature advanced electronic calibration and valve stroke detection, ensuring optimal performance and easy setup.
With the new AME 110NL(X) you can benefit from
- High-Accuracy Control: The digital step motor ensures precise positioning with a resolution of 1,000 steps per millimeter over the AB-QM 4.0 design flow valve stroke, enhancing the control performance of AB-QM valves. This results in optimal flow regulation and improved system efficiency.
- Enhanced Durability: The improved IP54 rating provides robust protection against water ingress, making the actuator suitable for a wider range of environments and mounting orientations.
- Energy Efficiency: With reduced power consumption (1W in DC operation and 1.1VA in AC operation), the AME 110NL(X) actuators help lower overall energy costs. In combination with the AB-QM 4.0 high-accuracy hydronic balancing and control of flows in an entire system, this contributes to greener and more sustainable building operations.
- Advanced Calibration: The actuators feature electronic calibration and valve stroke detection, ensuring consistent performance and simplifying the setup process. The automatic calibration routine on every power-up enhances reliability and accuracy as well saving labor time and costs in case of a power failure.
- User-Friendly Features: The actuators have four LED lights, all of which are used as visible position indicators. Additionally, two of these LEDs can also light up in orange or red colors to indicate warnings or alarms, providing clear and immediate feedback on the operational status. The harmonized halogen-free cables, available in lengths of 1.5, 2.5 and 5 meters, simplify installation and maintenance.
- Versatile Compatibility: The AME 110NL(X) is designed to be fully compatible with existing AB-QM 4.0 (DN 15-32) as well previous generation AB-QM (DN 10-32) valves, ensuring seamless integration and backward compatibility with older valves and actuator models.
The new fully RoHS compliant AME 110NL(X) modulating actuators represent a significant advancement in HVAC control technology, offering high accuracy, improved durability, and energy efficiency. We are confident that these new actuators for our high-accuracy AB-QM 4.0 PICV valves will meet and exceed your expectations, providing reliable and precise control for your building projects.
The combination of AME 110NL(X) and AB-QM 4.0 PICV valves is a recommended solution for the required implementation of “Active control of energy usage” provided through BACS in buildings as stated in the EN ISO 52120-1 standard. This standard is supportive to the renewed Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) which is aimed to reduce energy consumption in European Building stock.
