Smart building systems, shading control, and energy-efficient automation are increasingly important in both new and retrofit projects. Elsner Elektronik has developed Solexa Home, a wireless control system that integrates shading, ventilation, and lighting without relying on cloud connectivity.

Local automation for indoor climate control
Solexa Home is designed as a fully local system, combining a weather station, control panel, and base station as its core components. The system continuously monitors environmental parameters such as brightness, wind speed, precipitation, and temperature.

Using GPS-based calculations, it determines the sun’s position and adjusts shading devices accordingly. This enables demand-based control, where awnings, blinds, and shutters are activated only when required. Weather conditions such as wind, rain, or frost are also considered to protect both equipment and building interiors.

Integrated control of multiple building functions
Beyond shading, the system supports control of windows, heating units, and lighting. Wireless modules allow expansion to manage up to 16 drives and loads, enabling coordinated control of multiple building functions.

The control logic incorporates configurable thresholds for temperature and brightness, as well as programmable time schedules. This supports consistent indoor climate management while optimizing energy use.

Installation and scalability
The system is designed for straightforward installation, particularly in retrofit scenarios. Standard 230 V drives can be connected directly, and additional devices are integrated via wireless modules.

Configuration is handled through a touchscreen control unit, eliminating the need for additional software or programming expertise. The system can also be expanded with wireless transmitters and sensors, supporting flexible adaptation to different building requirements.

Data sovereignty and operational reliability
A key feature of Solexa Home is its local data processing. All control functions and settings are executed within the system, without dependence on cloud services or external internet connections.

This architecture enhances operational reliability and ensures data remains within the local environment. It also reduces potential risks associated with connectivity issues or external system dependencies.

Application in residential and commercial buildings
The system is suitable for applications requiring automated shading and climate control, including conservatories, terraces, glass façades, and sun-exposed interior spaces.

By combining environmental sensing, automated control, and wireless expandability, Solexa Home provides a practical approach to improving comfort and energy efficiency in both new installations and retrofit projects.
