Efficiency optimization of heating systems through digital hydronic solutions

At SHK+E 2026 (March 17–20, Essen), Danfoss will showcase components and system solutions designed to improve the efficiency of modern heating and cooling installations. The focus will be on digital system control, precise hydraulic balancing, and integrated solutions covering applications from single-family homes to district heating networks.

Exhibition context
Increasing energy performance requirements, stricter efficiency regulations, and the expansion of sustainable heating networks are driving demand for intelligent hydronic systems. Danfoss addresses these challenges with interconnected solutions that reduce energy consumption while improving operational reliability and user comfort.

The exhibition presentation focuses on system architectures combining digital control, precise hydraulics, and energy-efficient components.

Residential buildings: Smart heating and hydraulic balancing
In the residential sector, Danfoss will present network-enabled smart heating solutions for radiator and underfloor heating systems, along with riser and thermostatic valves supporting dynamic hydraulic balancing in line with EPBD requirements. These components enable smart-home-compatible heating operation with optimized energy efficiency.

For multi-family buildings, Danfoss will display apartment substations for new construction and retrofit projects as well as modules for electric domestic hot water reheating. Self-acting thermostat regulators with high control accuracy will also be shown. Visitors can learn about the free DanBasic software, which enables GEG-compliant hydraulic balancing calculations.

Commercial buildings: Demand-driven hydronics for heating and cooling
For non-residential applications, Danfoss will present digitally controlled HVAC system solutions featuring pressure-independent control valves (PICV), intelligent actuators, and motorized 6-way changeover valves. Integration into building management systems is enabled via BACnet MS/TP or Modbus RTU protocols. This approach allows heating and cooling circuits to be adjusted precisely according to demand, improving overall energy efficiency.

District heating: AI-based network optimization
In district heating, Danfoss will introduce the Leanheat software suite, enabling AI-based real-time planning, monitoring, and control of heating networks. Capabilities include predictive heat production planning, building-level demand analysis, and intelligent flow and differential pressure control to maintain network stability.

Interface solutions for efficient heat transfer include building substations and transfer stations equipped with high-efficiency plate heat exchangers designed to minimize energy losses.

Additional content and company history
Alongside current solutions, the exhibition stand will offer insights into more than 90 years of innovation history, from early developments to modern hydronic technologies. Additional information will be available about the “HeizungsTuner” podcast and technical developments.

Danfoss will exhibit at SHK+E 2026 in Hall 3, Booth 3C15.
