At EuroShop 2026, held February 22–26 in Düsseldorf, Danfoss will demonstrate how integrated cooling, heating, and control technologies can improve efficiency and sustainability across food retail formats, from cold rooms and convenience stores to large hypermarkets.
Store-wide integration as a design principle
Food retailers face rising energy costs, stricter food safety requirements, and growing pressure to reduce waste and emissions. Danfoss’ approach focuses on connecting refrigeration, heat recovery, monitoring, and controls into a single, coordinated system.
At Hall 16, Booth D59, the company will show how its portfolio links cold rooms, display cases, packs, heat recovery units, and digital monitoring platforms to reduce heat losses, optimize energy use, and maintain consistent temperature control throughout the store.
Proven technologies for refrigeration and control
The booth will feature established Danfoss technologies widely used in food retail environments, including ADAP-KOOL® controllers, CCMT and related valves, sensors, BOCK® compressors, Alsense®, System Managers, Heat Recovery Units, condensing units, and variable speed drives.
These components are designed to work together, enabling precise refrigeration control, efficient heat reuse, and centralized monitoring to support energy savings and operational reliability.
New developments for cases and compact systems
One of the main product introductions at EuroShop 2026 is the AK-CC25 case controller, the latest addition to the ADAP-KOOL® family. Designed for convenience store and display case applications, it supports multiple case configurations and features an updated user interface with integrated Bluetooth® for faster commissioning and easier integration with ADAP-KOOL® tools.
Also on display is the ETS 5T stepper valve, developed for compact CO₂ refrigeration systems. Its design combines precise flow control with a reduced footprint, addressing space constraints commonly found in display cases and small-format retail installations.
Preview of upcoming edge and pack controllers
EuroShop 2026 will also provide an early look at several upcoming Danfoss solutions. For cold rooms, the AK-EC Lite edge controller is designed to monitor multiple devices in a compact form factor and connect easily via standard protocols for cloud-based data access.
For larger convenience store systems, the AK-EC Convenience edge controller extends monitoring and optimization capabilities to more complex installations. In pack systems, the AK-PC 35 pack controller introduces flexible multi-compressor control with advanced efficiency features and broad refrigerant compatibility.
Danfoss will also preview expansions to its Optyma™ iCO₂ condensing unit range, aimed at bringing CO₂ refrigeration to a wider range of convenience store formats.
Smart Store concept with live operational data
At the center of the booth, visitors can explore the Danfoss Smart Store ADC concept, which presents live operational data from a functioning supermarket in Nordborg, Denmark. The display illustrates how existing cooling and heating technologies can be combined to improve efficiency, including optimized heat recovery and rail heating.
By using only commercially available food retail technologies, the Smart Store demonstrates how energy efficiency, sustainability, and profitability can be achieved simultaneously without experimental systems.
Context for food retail modernization
Danfoss’ EuroShop 2026 presence reflects a broader shift in food retail toward integrated, data-driven systems that address energy efficiency and emissions while safeguarding food quality. By linking refrigeration, heating, and controls across the store, retailers can respond more effectively to regulatory pressure, volatile energy prices, and sustainability targets.
At EuroShop, Danfoss positions these integrated solutions as practical tools for helping retailers move toward lower energy consumption and net-zero ambitions, while maintaining reliable day-to-day operations.
