Plenitude Expands Ultra-Fast EV Charging Network Along Spain’s AP-9 Corridor

Plenitude, through its subsidiary Plenitude On The Road, is expanding electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure in Spain with the development of an ultra-fast charging corridor along the AP-9 motorway in Galicia.

Project scope: Building a strategic charging corridor
Following an agreement with Autopistas del Atlántico, the company will install and operate 42 ultra-fast charging points with capacities of up to 300 kW.

The charging stations will be located across five major service areas along the AP-9 motorway:
  • O Salnés
  • Compostela
  • Ameixeira North and South
  • Miño
The Ameixeira North and South sites are expected to be among the first to become operational.

Infrastructure impact: Supporting electric mobility adoption
The deployment is designed to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility in Galicia by enabling high-speed charging along one of the region’s most important transport routes.

The AP-9, part of the European E1 corridor, spans approximately 220 kilometres and handles around 115 million vehicle transits annually, making it a critical infrastructure link in northwestern Spain.

Strategic perspective: Expanding European charging networks
According to Paolo Martini, Head of e-Mobility Recharge Solutions at Plenitude and CEO of Plenitude On The Road, the project aligns with the company’s broader strategy to expand ultra-fast charging infrastructure across key motorway corridors in Europe.

The initiative aims to provide EV drivers with reliable, high-performance charging solutions while strengthening cross-border electric mobility networks.

Timeline and deployment
The installation of all charging stations is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026. Commissioning will be carried out progressively, depending on permitting and regulatory approvals from relevant authorities.

Market position: Growing EV ecosystem
Plenitude On The Road currently operates approximately 23,000 charging points and provides access to around 600,000 charging points across Europe via its mobile app.

In Spain, Plenitude has reached around 1,700 MW of installed capacity and serves approximately 500,000 retail customers, reflecting its expanding footprint in both energy and mobility sectors.

Conclusion: Enabling scalable EV infrastructure
By investing in ultra-fast charging along high-traffic corridors, Plenitude is contributing to the development of a scalable EV ecosystem in Spain. The project highlights the growing role of integrated energy companies in supporting the transition toward low-emission mobility.
