Residential electrification and higher efficiency standards are increasing demand for HVAC equipment that can be commissioned quickly and monitored remotely. Within this context, Carrier introduced a residential HVAC platform composed of a redesigned air handler, a variable-speed heat pump, and connected thermostats at the International Builders’ Show (February 17–19, Orlando).
Designed for efficiency standards and remote service
The system is built to meet SEER2, HSPF2, and ENERGY STAR® performance requirements. Adaptive controls, over-the-air updates, and InteliSense® remote diagnostics allow service personnel to monitor operation and identify faults without site visits, supporting predictive maintenance workflows within connected building environments.
Compact air handler aimed at easier installation
The Performance™ Series Air Handler is 20% shorter and about 50 lb lighter than previous models, allowing placement in confined residential spaces. A 25-speed motor and mixed-flow fan regulate airflow to maintain stable temperatures while reducing energy consumption.
Technicians can configure the unit via Near Field Communication (NFC) using the Carrier Service Tech application, enabling tap-based setup and reuse of stored configuration profiles across multiple installations. Maintenance features include a standard 1-inch filter, LED status display, and sight glass for inspection.
Variable-speed heat pump across wide operating conditions
The Performance™ Series Variable Speed Heat Pump provides cooling efficiency up to 19.0 SEER2 and heating performance up to 10.0 HSPF2. Operation reaches sound levels as low as 57 dBA and supports heating down to −10°F and cooling up to 125°F ambient temperature.
When paired with compatible Carrier Smart Thermostats, ComfortAdjust™ and InteliSense® functions adapt operating parameters, enable remote diagnostics, and allow secure software updates.
Thermostats as part of a connected home energy system
Two thermostat variants integrate the equipment into a connected home environment. The Carrier Smart Thermostat Advanced provides touchscreen configuration and smart-home integration, while the Carrier Smart Thermostat offers remote control and scheduling with broad compatibility.
With the variable-speed heat pump, both enable ComfortAdjust™ control logic that automatically adjusts operating settings to balance comfort and energy consumption. The connected architecture allows installers and homeowners to monitor and manage system performance as part of a wider digital supply chain of residential energy management.
