Compact multifunction time switch with astro and Bluetooth functions

Finder has introduced the Type 12.C1 multifunction time switch, which combines time control and astronomical switching functions in a compact device. The solution is designed for professional use and addresses applications ranging from lighting and heating control to irrigation and access control.

Technological background and application areas
Modern building and infrastructure applications increasingly require flexible time control while space in control cabinets remains limited. The Type 12.C1 is developed for residential, commercial, and industrial environments and supports applications such as lighting control, central heating systems, irrigation installations, and time-based switching functions in technical systems.

Function integration and operating concept
The Type 12.C1 combines a multifunction time switch with a Bluetooth-enabled astronomical clock including weekly programming. A traditional display has been deliberately omitted to reduce device size and operational complexity. Instead, the unit features an integrated, pre-wired changeover pushbutton for simple manual operation.

Optionally, the device can be synchronized via the wireless GPS antenna Type 012.BG.8.230. This enables automatic updating of time and position data, supporting accurate astronomical switching functions.

Space requirements and installation aspects
With an installation width of just 17.5 mm, the Type 12.C1 is designed for use in compact control cabinets. The slim form factor supports both retrofit projects and new, space-optimized installations without the need for additional modules.

Power supply and data retention
The time switch operates without a battery. An internal energy reserve based on a high-performance supercapacitor stores all configuration settings and maintains them for up to seven days in the event of a power failure. This approach reduces maintenance requirements and improves operational reliability over the device lifecycle.

Configuration and astro functions
Configuration is performed using the free Finder Toolbox app for Android and iOS. Time programs can be created, saved, duplicated, and shared across installations. Existing configurations can be read out and adapted, supporting series installations and recurring applications.

The integrated astro function controls switching times based on sunrise and sunset. User-defined offset values allow fine adjustment, enabling energy-efficient and demand-driven operation of lighting systems and other time-controlled installations.

Technical assessment
The Type 12.C1 targets users who require a compact, low-maintenance, and flexibly configurable time control solution. By combining multifunction timing, astronomical scheduling, Bluetooth-based configuration, and optional GPS synchronization, the device is suited to applications where precise time control and minimal installation effort are key requirements.
