Wired VRF Remote Controller for Compact HVAC Installations

Hitachi Cooling & Heating has introduced a new wired remote controller designed for VRF systems, focusing on intuitive operation, compact form factor, and simplified commissioning for multi-zone HVAC applications in commercial and residential buildings.

Compact Design and User Interface
The controller features a compact 9 × 9 cm form factor and a pictogram-based interface for direct access to core functions such as temperature setpoint and operating mode. Temperature adjustment is supported in 0.5 °C increments. The design follows Hitachi’s Duality Design concept, balancing functional ergonomics with visual integration in modern indoor environments.

A single controller can manage up to 16 indoor units and is compatible with HLINK2-based VRF systems, supporting flexible deployment across multi-room installations.

NFC-Based Commissioning and System Configuration
Integrated NFC functionality enables commissioning through the airCloud Tap application. Installers can copy configuration profiles between rooms and access more than 140 system parameters, including operational data, fault codes, and maintenance information. This approach reduces commissioning time in hotels, offices, and multi-zone buildings.

Energy Management and Comfort Features
The controller supports weekly scheduling and Peak Cut operation to limit power consumption during high-demand periods. Comfort-oriented functions include airflow smoothing and startup capacity optimization. A dedicated sleep mode adjusts temperature settings for nighttime operation, while hotel key-card integration enables energy-saving setpoints in unoccupied rooms.

Integration and Deployment Flexibility
An integrated infrared receiver enables compatibility with wireless remotes without additional hardware, simplifying deployment in ducted or retrofit installations. The controller is designed to provide a cost-efficient wired control option while maintaining compatibility with existing VRF system architectures.

This controller expands Hitachi Cooling & Heating’s VRF control portfolio, addressing requirements for simplified commissioning, energy management, and user-friendly HVAC operation in distributed building environments.
