ams OSRAM has introduced two new variants of its SIRIUS HRI® series for the entertainment lighting market. The compact short-arc HID lamps Galaxy 250 and Galaxy 20D are designed to deliver exceptional brightness, extended service life and high performance for festivals, touring productions and arena shows.

Longer lifetime for professional lighting applications
From festivals to touring productions, lighting designers rely on powerful and precise short-arc HID lamps to illuminate large-scale entertainment shows. With the new SIRIUS HRI Galaxy 250 and Galaxy 20D, ams OSRAM is setting new benchmarks in terms of lifetime.

The SIRIUS HRI Galaxy 250 is rated for up to 6,000 operating hours under typical entertainment usage. The SIRIUS HRI Galaxy 20D, specifically designed for OEM applications and operating at 230 watts, achieves an extended lifetime of up to 8,000 hours. This is enabled by an optimized electrode and arc design, a more stable arc geometry and compatibility with digital lamp drivers. The longer operating life reduces replacement frequency, lowering operating costs and supporting more sustainable stage productions.

Powerful beams for large venues
Short-arc HID lamps such as the new SIRIUS HRI Galaxy series are designed to cut through haze, illuminate large arenas and deliver precise, high-intensity beams. Their high luminance ensures strong visual impact, even in demanding environments.

Thanks to the short arc gap and advanced optical systems, the lamps can achieve sharply defined beam angles of just 2°. This makes them particularly suitable for high-contrast visual effects that remain clearly visible over long distances and in high ambient light conditions. The compact yet powerful light source enables precise optical control, which is essential for beam and hybrid luminaires that require crisp edges and minimal color fringing.

Easy integration and proven serviceability
The compact form factor and mature technology of the SIRIUS HRI Galaxy lamps allow straightforward integration into beam and hybrid fixtures and ensure compatibility with a wide range of manufacturers. For example, the SIRIUS HRI Galaxy 250 is used in the new Ultimo Sharpy moving head from Claypaky, where it delivers high brilliance in a compact design.

This compactness makes the lamps well suited for touring applications and fast setup times. In operation, they benefit from simple maintenance: lamps can be replaced quickly on site, service infrastructure is well established, and a single lamp replacement can deliver a fixture lifetime comparable to LED solutions—while offering lower costs, higher luminance and better service availability.
