Upgrading communication systems in residential buildings requires solutions that combine installation efficiency with advanced technological performance. In the case of a residential condominium complex located in Seveso consisting of 65 housing units, the primary objective was to replace an obsolete intercom system. The main operational challenge was to avoid structural interventions or invasive masonry work, which would have caused disruption to residents and increased restoration costs.

This technical architecture allows for the transmission of smooth audio and video signals by leveraging pre-existing conduits and pipes, eliminating the need to run complex new main lines or cut grooves into walls.
The external infrastructure includes modular entrance panels equipped with a wide-angle camera and infrared (IR) lighting systems, which guarantee visitor visibility even in complete darkness. Inside the homes, the modularity of the system allows for the installation of differentiated terminals, ranging from essential audio handsets to 7-inch touchscreen monitors equipped with image memory and integrated WiFi connectivity. The configuration of the entire installation is carried out directly via physical DIP switches, a technical feature that makes the devices operational without requiring the use of dedicated programming software.
"In a building of this size, the priority was to replace an old intercom system without having to face invasive masonry work or complex wiring. Thanks to the platform, it was possible to use the existing pipes with the new cables supplied, guaranteeing smooth audio and video transmission and full wiring completed in just five days," explains Marco Di Muzio, co-founder of Synergia Impianti.
In the configuration destined for the single-family villa, the system was integrated with modules for access via personalized numerical codes and magnetic badges, replacing the use of traditional keys. The internal memory automatically records visitors in case of missed calls, while monitors connected to the local wireless network allow users to manage access openings directly from a smartphone.
Implementation Process and Technical Support
The modernization project was developed through a close synergy between the installation technicians at Synergia Impianti, the specialized distributor Elcon 2000—which managed logistics and commercial consulting—and the manufacturer's technical team.
During the system activation phase at the Seveso condominium, specialized personnel from the manufacturer supported the installation company directly on-site during the commissioning procedures. This support made it possible to verify the correct balance of the video signal across the entire distribution network and validate the connectivity functions of the internal monitors.
Operational and Logistic Results
Adopting two-wire bus technology significantly optimized on-site productivity. In the 65-unit residential complex, the entire wiring renewal and terminal replacement were completed within a timeframe of five working days, eliminating costs related to masonry and finishing work.
The alignment of components and ease of installation minimized downtime for the condominium's security system. In the single-family application, the open architecture guaranteed the technological upgrade of the building toward smart building systems standards, providing stable and monitorable digital access management over the long term.
